About the Event

A Turncoat style debate competition allows participants to fight out their ideas and logic against themselves, all within the time frame allotted to them. Participants will be presented with a motion, and they need to choose a side of the motion to present their viewpoints. At any point, the moderator may ask the participant to change the stance by saying “Turncoat”, following which the participant then has to change their stance and speak with respect to the other side of the motion.

Guidelines:

• Task Overview: Participants will receive a motion and must present arguments for one side. Upon the moderator's cue, they must seamlessly transition to arguing the opposite viewpoint.
• Submission Format: No specific submission format is required.
• Presentation: Participants must adhere to the time limit and maintain respectful discourse throughout the event.
